Sam transferred into McKinley meeting Finn. It takes a bit of convincing but he joins the glee club New Directions. He falls for Quinn and they date for a bit, he also dates Santana and Mercedes. Sam leaves when his family loses their home after his dad loses his job. They move to Kentucky and Sam unbeknownst to his parents works in a strip club stripping. This is where Finn and Rachel find him. He goes back to McKinley and rejoins New Directions.

Au post grad verse: A few years after High School Sam finds himself in NYC trying to find a place for himself. He works as a busboy to pay his bills, singing on the side when he can find a paying gig as he studies for college. He attends NYU, still unsure of what he wants to do.
